Crypto Miners In Iceland May See Reduced Energy Availability Under Prime Minister’s New Plan
Iceland’s Prime Minister, Katrín Jakobsdóttir, aims to shift renewable energy away from the crypto mining industry and towards households and other industries. The country’s robust crypto mining industry, fueled by its vast network of hydroelectric and geothermal plants, has made it the world’s largest energy producer per capita and the foremost Bitcoin hashrate producer. However, with electricity becoming scarcer and few new power plants under construction, the crypto mining industry is not expected to grow in Iceland.
